I actually really do like this style, and read a short story where the illustrations were like this. It was really interesting to read how the affect is achieved.

Also, love the comic! I'm glad Zach put a link up so I could find out about you!

Wow, yeah, I can see how that took a long time to draw. Impressive, nonetheless. And funny; can't forget funny :P

@Tom: Ah, you're right. Looks like I forgot the 'animals' tag as well. Should be fixed now!

@KM: Hah yeah, could be a monitor thing. It looks much better on my Cintiq than on this somewhat shitty laptop screen.

You could try lower the opacity of the layer with the diceplacement map on it. Or darken the layer mask, or spread or collapse the distance between the lines. Or it could just be causing a visual effect on his monitor because it looks alright to me.

Or it could be distortional effect from a GIANT CHICKEN IN SPACE!

Very nice! Though, shouldn't this be tagged with "without the guy with the glasses"?

Indeed! Basically it's a somewhat clever use of a bunch of Photoshop filters and displacement maps, but I'm not entirely pleased with how it turned out. The strip "Octopus Surprise" was my previous attempt at emulating the style. I guess if I come up with another idea suited for the style, I should just try to make it traditionally, if at all possible.
