This gives me warm fuzzies! :) I didn’t actually see any Horton connection until the comments, probably because the bird & octopus are co-parents. But now that I see the potential homage, it just makes me love it more because Horton Hatches the Egg was one of my favorite childhood stories.

That bird looks like a full bird to me…the bat genes you speak of must be recessive and the octopus must have them also for them to be expressed in the offspring.

If the octopus and the birds are managing to reproduce together, then it’s certainly plausible that that’s a half-bird, half-bat.

shouldn’t it have been a bat instead of a bird…? Just saying bird wings and bat wings are not the same. Cute idea though.
