Apparently some people call dreams “mind-generated movies”. The more accurate description would be “absolutely garbage mind-generated movies.”
Everyone now satisfied, except nightmares.
When asked about their opinion the nightmares’ spokesperson said “Where is the symbolism? the artistic effort? We nightmare seek to push creative boundaries. This machine takes away the joy in our work to do so.”
There is an interesting hypothesis on why we dream based on how AI is trained. When training AI they add some garbled nonsense with the training data so the AI don’t become too specialized on the examples used during training and become bad at doing anything else. This led to the hypothesis that dreams serve as a similar purpose, it provides odd data so our brain doesn’t become overspecialized in our everyday routine so we can better react to unexpected events.

As for myself, my bad dreams are often the dreams that make the most sense as I’m having them. My scattered dreams, on the other hand, are the ones that are usually too non-sensical for me to have a strong emotional connection with.
